Bending. Unless otherwise specified, reinforcing steel shall be bent in accordance with procedure specified in IS: 2502 ‑ (latest revision) or as approved by the Engineer. Bends and shapes shall comply strictly with the dimensions in the approved Bar Bending Schedule. Contractor shall be entirely responsible for its correctness. Bars correctly bent shall only be used. No reinforcement shall be bent when in position in the work without approval of the Engineer, whether or not is partially embedded in concrete. Bars shall not be straightened in a manner that will injure the materials. Re‑bending can be done only if approved by the Engineer. Reinforcement bars shall be bent by machine or other approved means producing a gradual and even motion. All the bars shall be cold bent unless otherwise approved.
