BENCHING. The Contractor shall remove, modify, and add benching to existing manhole MH22 as directed by the Contract Administrator. Benching shall be formed to ensure low flows continue to flow down the existing 2400mm diameter storm sewer, and that high flows will be directed into the overflow ▇▇▇▇. Benching shall not obstruct the flow path over the proposed overflow ▇▇▇▇.
BENCHING. Benching in manholes shall be in concrete (1:2:4 - 19m. aggregate) finished to steep falls and channels with cement mortar (1:3) 25mm. thick trowelled smooth with rounded angles.
BENCHING. Add the following: “Benching of fill and pavement layer material is required to be undertaken into the existing fill embankments and pavement layers. No additional payment shall be made over and above the normal pay items applicable to earthworks and pavement layers where benching is required for widening of the existing road formation. Benching shall be undertaken as shown on the drawings. It is a requirement that benching shall always be started at the bottom of the existing fill progressing to the top of the formation. The dimensions and details of benching are shown on the drawings.”
