BASIS FOR CLASSIFICATION Sample Clauses
BASIS FOR CLASSIFICATION. (i) Employees will be called upon and shall undertake at the request of the Company any of the tasks for which they have been successfully evaluated to have the skills, within the current grade and those lower grades within the same stream and any other tasks that they may safely, legally and competently perform within the employee’s relevant classification.
(ii) Employees shall be classified to a particular classification based upon the achievement of competency. Competency may be obtained from external acquisition of skills or specifically convened internal training programs, and will be recognised subject to the Company calling upon an employee to exercise such competency.
(iii) The overriding intent in the graded classification scheme is to enable each person to complete, to the maximum practical extent, whole tasks. Demarcations shall be solely based on the competency of the individual. Specific and objective skills evaluations will be carried out to assess level of competence for the purpose of determining an employee’s classification level. All relevant skills either held or acquired will be required to be demonstrated. Current licences and tickets form only a part of necessary skill demonstration. Company certification of acquired skills will be provided. Persons possessing specialist skills with substantial experience may progress to the higher grades on the basis of an assessment of those specialist skills.
(iv) As part of the progression process, employees will be called upon to perform tasks above their current grade for purposes of training and work continuity.
(v) Employees may be asked to demonstrate that they have maintained competency in their classification. Specific and objective skills evaluations will be carried out to assess levels of competency.
