Basic Benefit. Effective January 1, 2008, the basic life insurance benefit will be increased from $15,000 to $18,000 for employees. This shall be the default level of life insurance coverage, which shall be provided at no cost to the employee.

On January 1, 2015, the Basic Benefit will be increased to $89.00 per month for all years of Credited Service for all employees on the active payroll, or those on an authorized period of absence on or after January 1, 2015 (including those who retire from the employ of the Company on January 1, 2015).
Basic Benefit. The non-contributory pension benefit will apply to all employees on attainment of two years seniority. The CAW-ERP non-contributory basic benefit shall be, as follows: For employees who retire on or after August 11, 2010 the basic benefit is increased to $56.25 per month for each year of C.A.W. credited service after August 14, 2004. The benefit referred to above shall be in the form of a life annuity, with a guarantee of payments for a minimum of 10 years. However, if an employee is married at the time retirement income commences, then a benefit in the same amount shall be payable in the form of a 60% Joint and Survivor income, unless the member and his/her spouse opt for other arrangements in accordance with the provisions of the Ontario Pension Benefits Act. The requirement for a common law spouse shall be one (1) year.
