Application and Approval Procedures. Request for sabbatical leave shall be filed with the superintendent between November 15 and January 15 of the year preceding that for which the leave is requested and shall contain a detailed plan for the sabbatical leave. The application shall be submitted to a screening committee composed of the superintendent, a school board member, and the department chairperson of the department in which the applicant teaches. The Board of Education must approve requests for sabbatical leave or reject them subsequent to the report of the screening committee.
