ANTIQUITIES CODE Sample Clauses

The Antiquities Code clause establishes legal requirements and protections for the discovery, handling, and preservation of historical artifacts or archaeological materials found on a property. In practice, this clause typically mandates that any such items uncovered during construction or land development must be reported to the appropriate authorities, and may require work to halt until proper assessment or preservation measures are taken. Its core function is to ensure compliance with heritage preservation laws, preventing the unauthorized removal or destruction of culturally significant objects and thereby safeguarding historical resources.
ANTIQUITIES CODE. In the event that any foundation, site, item, or the feature of archaeological, scientific, or historic interest is encountered during the activities authorized by this lease, LESSEE will immediately cease such activities and will immediately notify the LESSOR and the Texas Antiquities Committee so that adequate measures may be undertaken to protect or recover such discoveries or findings, as appropriate. In this regard, LESSEE is expressly placed on notice of the National Historical Preservation Act of 1966, (PB-89-66, 80 Statute 915; 16 U.S.C.A. 470) and the Antiquities Code of Texas, Chapter 191, Natural Resources Code.
