For rail 110# section and greater, all plates will be double-shouldered. Joints: New or secondhand joints, free of foreign material and without injurious defects, and with 4 or 6 bolt holes, conforming to AREMA requirements, may be furnished to fit rail section for which they are designed. New or secondhand compromise joints of manufactured type (welded or homemade not acceptable), free of foreign material and without injurious defects, shall be furnished and used where rail section (weight or design) changes. Rail section by weight shall not be compromised where difference in weight is in excess of 25 lbs.
