AC Voltage Test Clause Samples

The AC Voltage Test clause establishes requirements for testing electrical equipment or systems using alternating current (AC) voltage to verify their insulation integrity and safety. Typically, this involves applying a specified AC voltage to the equipment for a set duration and monitoring for any breakdown or leakage current, ensuring the equipment can safely operate under normal conditions. This clause is essential for confirming compliance with safety standards and preventing electrical hazards, thereby protecting both users and equipment from potential electrical failures.
AC Voltage Test. All completed cables shall be subjected to a voltage of 3.5 kV R.M.S applied between conductors and between conductors and earth. The voltage shall be increased gradually and shall be maintained at the full value for 5 minutes without break- down of the insulation. The frequency of test voltage shall be in range of 40- 62 Hz. Its waveform shall approximate to a sine curve and have both half cycles reasonably alike.
