Long Term Union Leave. An employee may apply to the Employer for a long-term leave of absence without pay but without loss of seniority if they are elected or appointed to a full-time position with the Local or the National Union. Such leave shall be for a period of three (3) years and may be renewed for a further period as may be agreed between the parties. During such leave the Union shall be responsible for providing WSIB coverage. The Employer will post the vacancy arising as a result of the granting of this leave as a temporary vacancy, which will be filled in accordance with the provisions of the job posting article.

Long Term Union Leave. One member of the bargaining unit or the Union President (when an employee of the College) shall be granted up to one (1) year of unpaid leave per contract year. By mutual agreement, additional unpaid leave may be granted. The College shall not unreasonably withhold consent for requested additional leave. The College will be given at least thirty (30) days of advance notice. Further, the College will give due consideration to requests to have more than one member of the Bargaining Unit take long-term union leave.

Long Term Union Leave. Notwithstanding any other provision for a leave of absence of more than thirty (30) days for any Shop Committee member(s) and the terms of any such leave as particularized elsewhere in this Agreement, upon written request of the Employer by the Union, the Employer may grant a leave of absence without pay or benefits and without loss of seniority to an employee acting as a representative of the Union in connection with other Union activities. Such requests shall be made not less than seven (7) days before the leave is to commence. The employer agrees to maintain the base wages and benefit premiums on behalf of the employee on leave that the employer would otherwise have contributed on behalf of said employee during said leave, and the Union agrees to reimburse the employer for all such wages and benefit premiums contributions paid on behalf of said employee. The employer shall invoice the Union and the Union agrees to reimburse the employer not longer than thirty (30) days from the date of the billing.

Long Term Union Leave. One Employee may make a request to the Employer for a Leave of Absence without pay or benefits in any capacity as a Union official including Executive Board Member or Business Representative. The Leave of Absence must be approved by the Union in writing. The Employee must give the Employer one (1) month’s advance written notice of the requested Leave of Absence. The Employer’s consent shall not be unreasonably withheld. The Employee shall not work in any other position except as a Union official during such Leave of Absence unless agreed to in writing by the Employer. There shall be no more than one Employee on such Leave of Absence at any one time. Notice to return from leave shall be given as soon as is possible, at a minimum time of seventy-two (72) hours. Seniority shall accumulate during the period of the leave.
Long Term Union Leave. For participation in union activities. Such leave shall be unpaid and the employee will not receive benefits dur- ing the period of such leave. Such leave shall be no less than one (1) week and no more than six (6) months. The employee shall provide the employer with as much advance notice as possible, but in no case less than two weeks notice of any request for such leave. The Em- ployer may reject such requests based on work requirements, pro- vided that approval for such leave will not be withheld unreasonably. No more than one (1) employee may be on such leave at any time.
Long Term Union Leave. Any requests for union leave greater than what is outlined above shall not be unreasonably denied. The employee will remain on the Company’s payroll and benefits and the union will reimburse the Company for wages plus an additional 30% subsidy for the duration of the leave. The long-term leave is subject to the following conditions: Number of Employees Not more than one (1) employee in total can be absent on such leave at one time.
