Substitutes definition

Substitutes as used in this Agreement shall mean employees not covered by individual, temporary, or regular contracts of employment.
Substitutes shall be defined as a person scheduled to work in the absence of a regular employee on a leave of absence (paid or unpaid) and during the period of time required to post and fill vacancies.
Substitutes means persons serving on assignments for uninterrupted periods of less than one (1) semester's duration for members of the unit on leave, or in an on-call status to replace absent regular employees on a day-to-day basis for any length of time within a school year.

Substitutes means persons hired on a daily basis to replace regular employees absent on approved leaves of absence1.
Substitutes shall be defined as a person scheduled to work in the absence of a regular employee on a leave of absence (paid or unpaid), including vacation and during the period of time required to post and fill vacancies. Unless otherwise indicated, use of the term “employee” or “bargaining unit member” when used hereinafter in this Agreement shall refer to all members of the above-defined bargaining unit. A probationary employee shall be considered an employee who has served in a bargaining unit position for less than ninety (90) calendar days. It is expressly recognized by the parties that the Custodial Supervisor, Bus Mechanic, Transportation Supervisor, Food Service Director, and Finance Director may continue to perform bargaining unit work of the same kind and nature and to the extent as has been done in the past. It is understood that other supervisory employees may perform bargaining unit work in circumstances such as emergency situations, when operational difficulties are encountered, in the testing of materials and equipment, and in the instruction or training of employees. Work performed by non-bargaining unit employees shall not result in the layoff of regular bargaining unit members.
Substitutes means a person engaged against a regular, permanent or temporary post by reason of absence on leave or otherwise of a permanent or temporary railway servant and such substitute shall not be deemed to be a railway servant unless he is absorbed in the regular railway service;
