Confidentiality means that the Child and Youth Mental Health Counsellor have a responsibility to safeguard information obtained during counselling with your child and or family. All identifying information about the assessment and treatment is kept confidential, except as mandated by law. You must sign a release of information before any information about you or your child is given to anyone, except as mandated by law. As part of routine practice, we may consult with our clinical supervisor (who is also bound by the same confidentiality) about your child and family in order to provide you with the best care. This may involve sharing photos of artwork or scenes created in expressive play.
