Winter. As it is difficult to predict the severity if winter weather and as the jackets provided by the City in accordance with Article XX of the working agreement may not always be adequate, it is hereby agreed that for the winter months (December 1 to March 30) employees may wear an appropriate heavy duty outer jacket for their choice for their protection from the weather. The other articles of uniform attire including steel-toed shoes, denim pants, sweatshirts with City Logo, and or tee shirts with City Logo shall be continue to be worn.

For the winter season (October through May), in addition to normal weekday daytime services provided by a full three (3) person crew, two (2) crew members are scheduled daily, including weekends and holidays, around the clock, for snow plowing or sanding maintenance, with a third person as scheduled backup and a fourth for emergencies (e.g., heavy snowfalls, etc.). b. Snowplow and sand District roadways, pedestrian pathway and bus stops whenever necessary to make sure roads and pathway are passable. Company shall have the capability of placing sufficient snowplows/blowers on District roads and the pedestrian pathway for snow removal purposes. c. Winter. On March the of Transportation conducted a Commercial Vehicle Operating Rules Audit on the City of North Bay which identified a serious contravention of the Hours of Work legislation with respect to the City’s Public Work’s Operation. During recent collective bargaining, in order to address issues surrounding the requirements of the and other operating issues, the parties agreed to enter into the following agreement pertaining to Road’s Department Winter Control Program. The Corporation will establish the commencement and completion of the Winter Control Program and post vacancies for positions not filled by employees of the Roads Department.
