Religious Objection. Any employee who is a member of and adheres to established and traditional tenets or teachings of a bona fide religion, body, or sect which has historically held conscientious objections to joining or financially supporting labor organizations shall not be required to join or financially support the Union as a condition of employment. Such an employee shall, in lieu of dues and fees, pay sums equal to such dues and fees to a non-religious charitable fund. These religious objections and decisions as to which fund will be used must be documented and declared in writing to the Union. Any employee exercising their right of religious objection must provide the Union with a receipt of payment to an appropriate charity on a monthly basis.

Religious Objection. Any unit member covered by this Agreement who is a member of a religious body whose traditional tenets or teachings include objections to joining or financially supporting employee organizations, shall not be required to join, maintain membership in or financially support any employee organization as a condition of employment except that once such employee has submitted evidence satisfactory to CSEA that he/she is a member of such religious organization, he/she will be required, in lieu of a service fee, to pay sums equal to such service fee whether to a non-religious, non-labor organization or charitable fund exempt from taxation under Section 501 (c) (3) of Title 26 of the Internal Revenue Code, chosen by such employee from the following list:

Such an employee shall authorize a payroll deduction in an amount equal to the service fee to a non-religious, non-labor, charitable organization exempt from taxation under Section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Payroll deductions under this section shall only be authorized for such organizations which have been approved by the County Auditor in accordance with Section 3502.5(a) of the Government Code. Each person requesting exemption from payment of the service fee under this provision shall file a claim with the Union on a form provided by the Union and approved by the County. A claim for religious exemption must be filed within thirty (30) days of the hire date of an employee into a classification in the Unit or within thirty days (30) of the effective date of the transfer, demotion, or promotion of an employee into a classification in the Unit. Claims received after the thirty (30) day period will not be considered. Should an employee request an exemption from payment of the service fee because s/he asserts s/he has become a member of a bona fide religion, body, or sect which has historically held conscientious objection to joining or financially supporting public employee organizations, the employee must file a claim for religious objection within thirty (30) days on a form provided by the Union and approved by the County. The Union shall review all claims for religious exemption and notify the employee and the Payroll Office of approval or denial of the claim within thirty (30) days of receipt by Union. An employee's sole remedy for reconsideration shall be with the Union.
Religious Objection. If an employee in the bargaining unit belongs to a recognized religious sect which does not permit its members to pay a representational fee to any employee organization, an amount equal to the representational fee which would have been paid will be deducted monthly from the employee paycheck and deposited in a scholarship fund established by the District and CSEA.

Religious Objection. If a Unit Member belongs to a recognized religious sect which does not permit its members to pay a service fee to any employee organization, such Unit Member shall submit to the District an amount equal to the service fee or authorize the District, on forms provided by the District, to deduct from the Unit Member’s salary an amount equal to the service fee. Any amounts so derived shall be divided equally between the Cypress College Foundation and the Fullerton College Foundation. CSEA shall establish internal procedures for resolving religious objection issues. It shall be the sole responsibility of CSEA to resolve such issues.
