Other Plan Clause Samples

The "Other Plan" clause defines how benefits are coordinated when an individual is covered by more than one health insurance plan. It typically outlines the procedures for determining which plan pays first (the primary plan) and how the secondary plan may cover remaining eligible expenses. For example, if a person has both employer-sponsored insurance and coverage through a spouse, this clause clarifies the order of payment and prevents duplicate reimbursements. Its core function is to avoid overpayment and ensure that the total benefits paid do not exceed the actual costs incurred, thereby promoting fairness and cost control among insurers.
