Optometrist a doctor of optometry (O.D.) who is specifically trained to examine the eyes and determine the presence of visual problems, and who may prescribe glasses, contact lenses and other optical aids or eye exercises in treatment of visual disturbances and who is duly licensed by the applicable licensing authority. Orthoptics - the teaching and training process for the improvement of visual perception and coordination of the two eyes for efficient and comfortable binocular lenses.
