Method of Measurement and Payment. Payments for excavation shall be made at the unit rate per 28.32m3 (1,OOOcft.) agreed upon for the actual quantity excavated in conformity with the plans or directed by the Superintending Engineer but no payment shall be allowed for the measurement, which is outside of the volume bounded by vertical planes 450mm (18") outside of and parallel to the next lines of the footing. Excavations for structures measured in its original position by the cross section method shall not include water or other liquids, but shall include muds muck and other similar semi-solids. The top and bottom limits of completed volume shall be the original ground surface and the bottom of the completed footing. Individual quantities shall be worked out to the nearest O.O28m (1cft.) and the total of 1 set nearest to the O.28m3 (10cft.) When it is necessary in the opinion of the Superintending Engineer to carry the foundation below the levels shown on the plans, the excavation for the first 915mm (3 feet) of additional depth will be included in the item, "Foundation excavation," for which payment will be made at contract unit prices. Excavation below this additional depth will be paid for as extra work, unless the contractor is willing to accept payment at contract prices.
Method of Measurement and Payment. The payment for earth fillings shall be made only on the Compacted Quantity. The quantity shall be arrived at by taking levels on each occasion. The difference in levels between the compacted surface and the original ground level shall be taken to computer the quantity of earth for the purposes of payment. On no account shall the quantity of earth, excavated or carted from the different sources be taken into consideration for payment. The Contractor is expected to make due allowance for compaction of earth to base his tender rate, as the payment will be only for the compacted quantity of earth as defined in the respective schedules. . The rate should include full compensation for performing all work required under embankments and for furnishing all necessary equipment, tools, labour and other items incidental to embankment.

The Contractor shall abide with applicable section of the New Mexico Department of Transportation Standard Specifications for Highway and Bridge Construction, Current Edition and Special Provisions and Supplemental Specifications, Section 700 Traffic Control Devices and with the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices, Current Edition, and Part VI - Traffic Control for Street and Highway Construction and Maintenance Operations. The contractor shall submit a traffic control plan to the District Three Traffic Engineer with copies to the project inspectors, Maintenance Technical Support Engineer and Assistant District Engineer (Maintenance) at least two (2) weeks prior to the construction start date. The traffic control plan shall include the proposed signing, location of signs, location and type of all traffic channelization devices to be utilized, and all lane closures and detours. The traffic control plan must be approved by the District Three Traffic Engineer or their designee prior to the beginning of operations. The Contractor shall also provide sufficient flagmen and/or additional traffic control devices to include pilot car(s), portable traffic signal(s), when deemed necessary by the District Traffic Engineer or District Engineer or their designee, to improve safety with the traffic control before/during/after operations. Method of Measurement and Payment. All quantities are to be measured by the District Engineer or Designee and shall be considered final. All payments are to be made on this basis. Pay items in this Price Agreement consist of four (4) different methods of measurements with three (3) different variants in pay items for litter collection and removal. The variants for the pay items are based on the distance the Vendor needs to travel from the District Office and/or the Vendors Base Station, whichever is closer to the project site. The variants of this pay items are described under the pay items section of this Price Agreement. Work limits will be provided to the Vendor by the District Engineer or Designee and will be included in the purchase order. The work limits will be identified by Mile Post (MP) markers and will extend the width of the NMDOT ROW fence. In the event the ROW fence is not available or is in question, the work shall extend a maximum of one-hundred (100) feet from the edge of shoulders in both directions. Pay Items: Litter Collection and Removal by the Ton, for Highways and Interstates : This pay item will be measured by the Tons collected and delivered to the landfill. Trucks will need to be weighed while fully loaded and upon entering the landfill and then weighed empty prior to leaving the landfill. A load ticket from the landfill, indicating the number of litter tons per load will need to be obtained by the driver of the truck. The ticket shall also contain the date, time and vehicle license plate number. The Vendor will have to provide copies of these tickets in order to be paid. All work, manpower and equipment associated with this pay item is incidental to the pay item and no additional payment shall be made. Litter Collection and Removal by the Center Lane Mile, for Two (2) Lane Highways: This pay item will be measured by center Lane-Miles for litter collected and delivered to the landfill. Truck load tickets will not be required as the Vendor will be paid based on number of center lane miles completed. ATTACHMENT 1 E-470 BRIDGE MAINTENANCE CONTRACT TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION 500.02 BRIDGE RAIL PAINTING Measurement of Rail Post, 2 Rail, will be by the number of rail posts painted that support 1 Round Rail and 1 Square Rail. Measurement of Rail Post, 3 Rail, will be by the number of posts painted that support 1 Round Rail, and 2 Square Rails. Posts that support a Round Rail only, shall be measured as Rail Post, 2 Rail.
