Distant Location Clause Samples

The Distant Location clause defines the rights and obligations of parties when services or deliveries must occur at a site far from the usual place of business. Typically, this clause outlines who is responsible for additional costs, such as travel, accommodation, or shipping, and may set requirements for advance notice or approval if work is to be performed at a remote location. Its core function is to allocate responsibility for the logistical and financial implications of working at or delivering to distant sites, thereby preventing disputes and ensuring clarity regarding extra expenses and arrangements.
Distant Location. When housed overnight or longer, on location outside a Studio Zone, the Employee shall receive, in addition to the applicable wage scale, all necessary lodging expenses (lodging to be single occupancy equal to the Canadian Automobile Association (CAA) standards where reasonably available) plus approved per diem and transportation expenses, to, from, and while on the job.
Distant Location. For work sites outside of the Studio Zone where Employees will be required to be lodged overnight or longer: (a) On days of travel when no work is to be or has been performed by the Employee, travel shall be compensated with an allowance equivalent to four (4) hours at the Employee’s straight time contracted hourly rate or at the Employee’s straight time contracted hourly rate for time travelled, whichever is greater.
Distant Location. Employees who live more than thirty (30) kilometers from the edge of a Studio Zone (other than the Vancouver Studio Zone) shall be on distant location.

Such Studio Zone may not overlap the Calgary, Edmonton or Yellowknife Studio Zones.
