The focus of maintenance of these lifts and escalator will be more based on the UNISA owned buildings/campuses as the leased building the maintenance of these equipment are done by the landlord. These regional campuses have several high-raised buildings equipped with lifts and escalators that are used on a daily basis. They consist of passenger lifts, hoists, goods lifts, escalators and passenger lifts for people with disabilities. Hoists and goods lifts are necessary for the transport of study material and various other institution documentation and any other goods that needs to be take into the building on different floors. The passenger lifts and escalators serve as a means for personnel and students to get around the buildings with ease. The lifts are manufactured by various lift manufacturers; however, all the lifts & escalators requires the same quality of maintenance and service. The lifts and/or escalators are required to be maintained and serviced in accordance with best maintenance standards and the manufacturers’ maintenance standard, OHS Act 85 of 1993 and SANS 53015 (EN 13015) on a regular basis It is based on the abovementioned background that UNISA requires suitably qualified service providers to participate in an open tender process for the maintenance and service of the lifts and/or escalators at Sunnyside and Pretoria CBD campus in accordance with the OHS Act 85 of 1993, “Lift, Escalator And Passenger Conveyor Regulations” as well as best maintenance practices applicable to passenger and goods lifts.

These tires will be collected for the purpose of an ongoing business of dismantling, separating and recycling the total of their components.
