Agreement Area. The Agreement Area comprises the area of the Pacific Ocean bounded by the coastline of North, Central, and South America and by the following lines:

BY 31 AUGUST 1999 THE REQUIREMENTS HAD BEEN MET FOR THE AGREEMENT’S ENTRY INTO FORCE. IN ACCORDANCE WITH ARTICLE XIV, PARAGRAPH 1, THE AGREEMENT ENTERED INTO FORCE ON 1 NOVEMBER 1999. THE AFRICAN-EURASIAN WATERBIRD AGREEMENT, THE LARGEST AGREEMENT DEVELOPED SO FAR UNDER THE CONVENTION OF MIGRATORY SPECIES (CMS), CAME INTO FORCE AN 1 NOVEMBER 1999. SINCE THEN THE NUMBER OF CONTRACTING PARTIES IS GROWING STEADILY.
