A Long term Occasional Teacher who is absent due to quarantine by a medical doctor due to someone else’s illness shall be granted a leave of absence without loss of pay.
A Long. Term Occasional Teacher shall be granted one (1) day, without loss of pay or deduction of sick leave, for the purpose of writing an examination which will improve professional or academic qualifications. The Occasional Teacher shall provide written documentation to the Board attesting to the writing of the examination.
A Long. Term Occasional Teacher whose assignment is longer than three (3) months may request an evaluation by a Principal. Such a request must be made by the Occasional Teacher no later than ten (10) days prior to the end of the Long-Term Occasional assignment.
A Long term Temporary is a temporary faculty member employed for a complete school year, per Education Code 87482, where there is an organizational need for additional faculty during a particular semester. Long- term temporary employees are required to perform all of the duties of full-time unit members. As such, they shall be paid per the appropriate step and column of the Full-time Salary Schedule
7.1.2 Class Placement Requirements for Initial Placement and/or Class Changes
A Long. Term Occasional Teacher who is not on the Occasional Teacher Roster will be considered to be on probation for (sixty) 60 teaching days, which may accumulate from different assignments. The Long-Term Occasional Teacher must comply with the requirements of the probationary process outlined in Article
A Long. Term Occasional Teacher with an acceptable university degree but who does not hold a Q.E.C.O. Rating Statement shall be paid retroactive to the first day of the current assignment, at Cat. A1 of the current salary schedule of the Collective Agreement between the board and Union representing elementary teachers with experience as recognized under Articles 13.05 and 13.06 of this Collective Agreement.
A Long. Term Occasional Teacher may be granted up to five (5) days leave per school year with deduction of sick leave credit(s) where it is necessary for the Occasional Teacher to care for a child, parent or spouse.
A Long. Term Occasional Teacher who is scheduled to work when there is a professional activity day shall be paid for the day provided that the Long-Term Occasional Teacher participates in the scheduled professional activities.
A Long. Term Occasional Teacher whose period of employment includes a Professional Activity Day will be paid for the day, (pro-rated to their FTE), and will be required to participate in the scheduled professional activity sessions (pro-rated to their FTE).
A Long. Term Occasional Teacher whose assignment is longer than three (3) months may request a Performance Appraisal by a Principal. Such a request must be made by the Occasional Teacher no later than ten (10) days prior to the end of the Long-Term Occasional assignment. The Principal, or designate, completing the Appraisal shall use the Employer’s Occasional Teachers’ Performance Appraisal process (OTPA). The Board will endeavor to provide the Occasional Teacher at least 48 hours’ notice before a classroom observation for the purpose of a Performance Appraisal.
