Formal Level 1. If a complaint is not resolved in a conference between the affected bargaining unit member(s) and his/her immediate supervisor, the complaint may be formalized as a grievance. A formalized grievance shall be submitted in writing within five (5) days of the meeting between the supervisor and the affected bargaining unit member(s). A copy of the grievance shall be sent to the Association and the immediate supervisor. The immediate supervisor shall, within five (5) days of receipt of the grievance, render a written decision. A copy of this decision shall be forwarded to the grievant(s) and the Association.

The grievance shall state the alleged cause for the grievance, the Article and section of this Agreement which have allegedly been violated, the solution sought, and the signature of the member filing the grievance. If the immediate supervisor is the Superintendent, Level 1 is bypassed.
