Government Service definition

Government Service means the appointment or election of the Eligible Director to a position with the federal, state or local government or any political subdivision, agency or instrumentality thereof.
Government Service means temporary service under the Government of Haryana and includes temporary service rendered in composite Punjab and in the erstwhile Pepsu before its merger with Punjab.

Periods of service that will not count as service for redundancy pay purposes are any periods of service that ceased by way of: Xxxxxx‒Xxxxxxx Basin Authority (MDBA) termination under Section 29 of the Public Service Act 1999; mechanisms prior to the commencement of the Public Service Act 1999 being: redundancy; retirement on ground of invalidity; inefficiency or loss of qualifications; forfeiture of office; dismissal or termination of probationary appointment for reasons of unsatisfactory service; voluntary retirement at or above the minimum retiring age applicable to the employee; or payment of a redundancy benefit or similar payment or an employer- financed retirement benefit. For earlier periods of service to count there must be no breaks between the periods of service, except where the break in service was less than one month and occurred where an offer of employment in relation to the second period of service was accepted by the employee before the first period of service ended (whether or not the two periods of service are with the same employer or agency). Absences from work, which do not count as service for any purpose, will not count as service for redundancy pay purposes.
