There are also parallels between Aby Warburg's concept of Greifraum (grasping space) und Denkraum (thought space), and Schmarsow's Gesichtsraum and Tastraum, and these owe to the fact that Aby Warburg was one of Schmarsow's students at the German Institute of Art History in Florence in 1889.14 But comparable thoughts are also later voiced by El Lissitzky, who associated physical activity and human movement with increased awareness and sharpening of intellectual reception.
