Vacuum definition

Vacuum means the reduction of atmospheric pressure within a pipe, tank, pump or other vessel. Vacuum is measured in inches of mercury. The practical maximum vacuum is thirty inches (30") of mercury or thirty three and nine tenths feet (33.9') of head.
