Total Return definition

Total Return means the annual compounded rate of return for an investment fund for a period that would equate the initial value to the redeemable value at the end of the period, expressed as a percentage, and determined by applying the following formula:

Total Return means the amount equal to the combination of ordinary income before incentive compensation, realized capital gains and losses and unrealized capital appreciation and depreciation of the Company for the period, in each case determined on an accrual and consolidated basis.
Total Return means, for any security and for any period, the cumulative total return for such security over such period, as measured by (i) the sum of (A) the cumulative amount of dividends paid in respect of such security for such period (assuming that all dividends other than Extraordinary Distributions are reinvested in such security as of the payment date for such dividend based on the security price on the dividend payment date), and (B) an amount equal to (1) the security price at the end of such period, minus (2) the security price at the beginning of such period, divided by (ii) the security price at the beginning of the measurement period; provided, however, that if the foregoing calculation results in a negative number, the "Total Return" shall be equal to zero.

Total Return for any period since the end of the prior calendar year shall equal the sum of: (i) all distributions accrued or paid (without duplication) on the Partnership Units outstanding at the end of such period since the beginning of the then-current calendar year plus (ii) the change in aggregate Net Asset Value of such Partnership Units since the beginning of such year, before giving effect to (x) changes resulting solely from the proceeds of issuances of Partnership Units, (y) any allocation or accrual to the Performance Allocation and (z) any applicable stockholder servicing fee expenses (including any payments made to the General Partner for payment of such expenses).
