Examples of RACM in a sentence
Friable - Materials containing greater than 1% asbestos are always considered Regulated Asbestos Containing Materials (RACM) that require removal prior to building renovation or demolition activities that impact the material.
For projects involving permitted RACM removals, both the applicable county and the state (HHCU) must be notified.
For demolitions with no RACM, only the local environmental agencies must be notified.
An Asbestos Removal Permit must be obtained from the Health Hazards Control Unit (HHCU) of the N.C. Department of Health & Human Services, Division of Public Health, if more than 35 cubic feet, 160 square feet, or 260 linear feet of regulated ACM (RACM) is to be removed from a structure and this work must be completed by a Design-Build Team prequalified by NCDOT to perform asbestos abatement.
Note: 40 CFR 763.85 (a)(4) vi)(D) defines ACM as surfacing, TSI and Miscellaneous which does not meet the NESHAP RACM.
