Open Source License definition

Open Source License means any license meeting the Open Source Definition (as promulgated by the Open Source Initiative) or the Free Software Definition (as promulgated by the Free Software Foundation), or any substantially similar license, including any license approved by the Open Source Initiative or any Creative Commons License. “Open Source Licenses” shall include Copyleft Licenses.
Open Source License means any license that has been designated as an approved “open source license” on xxx.xxxxxxxxxx.xxx (including the GNU General Public License (GPL), GNU Lesser General Public License (LGPL), Mozilla Public License (MPL), BSD licenses, the Artistic License, the Netscape Public License, the Sun Community Source License (SCSL), the Sun Industry Standards Source License (SISSL) and the Apache License).
Open Source License includes, without limitation, a software license that requires as a condition of use, modification, and/or distribution of such software that the Software be (i) disclosed or distributed in source code form; (ii) be licensed for the purpose of making derivative works; or (iii) be redistributable at no charge.

Examples of Open Source License in a sentence

  • To the extent required by an Open Source License that applies to a file or component included in the Software (“Open Source Software”): (a) the terms of such Open Source License will apply to such Open Source Software instead of the terms of the license grant in this License Agreement; and (b) any restrictions prohibited by such Open Source License that are contained in this License Agreement will not apply to such Open Source Software.
