Students may also be assessed through research or creative writing papers, written assignments including reviews and essays, case studies, simulations, group projects, and portfolio pieces. The focus of traditional academic assessment is on authentic assessment types that demonstrate mastery of content standards and is appropriately weighted to take into account common student characteristics such as test-taking anxiety and learning difficulties. Physical Education Students demonstrate mastery of concepts, principles, and rules related to health and physical education through activities, online quizzes and self-checks. Students apply learned concepts and principles as individuals or by participating in organized group sports; they report their progress through journals and other documentation as appropriate.
