Magic is notoriously difficult of definition; ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ demonstrates that there was a small difference between “illegal” magic and “legal” religious rites. They wanted to provide redress for someone who was physically harmed by a ▇▇▇▇▇ ▇▇▇▇▇▇. This makes sense in context and there is sound evidence that belief in such carmina survived into a much later period.
