Low-level waste definition

Low-level waste means radioactive material that: (1) is neither High Level Waste (as defined herein), nor byproduct material (as defined in Section 11e.(2) of the Atomic Energy Act of 1954 (42 U.S.C. 2014(e)(2)); and (2) the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, consistent with existing law and in accordance with paragraph (1), classifies as low-level radioactive waste.
Low-level waste means waste material which contains radioactive nuclides in concentrations or quantities which exceed applicable standards for unrestricted release but does not include:
Low-level waste means radioactive waste having a radioactive content not exceeding four gigabecquerels per tonne (GBq/te) of alpha activity or twelve GBq/te of beta or gamma activity;

More Definitions of Low-level waste

Low-level waste means waste material which contains radioactive nuclides emitting primarily beta or gamma radiation, or both, in concentrations or quantities which exceed applicable federal or state standards for unrestricted release. Low-level waste does not include waste containing more than 10 nanocuries of transuranic contaminants per gram of material, nor spent reactor fuel, nor material classified as either high-level waste or waste which is unsuited for disposal by near-surface burial under any applicable federal regulations.
Low-level waste means radioactive material that: (a) is neither High Level Waste nor Spent Nuclear Fuel and (b) the NRC, consistent with existing Law and in accordance with clause (a), classifies as low-level radioactive waste.
Low-level waste means waste material which contains radioactive nuclides emitting either primarily beta or gamma radiation, or both, in concentrations or quantities which exceed applicable federal or state standards for unrestricted release; provided that Low Level Waste shall not include any waste containing more than ten (10) nanocuries of transuranic contaminants per gram of material, Spent Nuclear Fuel, or material classified as either High Level Waste or waste which is unsuited for disposal by near-surface burial under any applicable federal regulations.
Low-level waste means waste material which contains radioactive nuclides emitting primarily beta or gamma radiation, or both, in concentrations or quantities which exceed applicable federal or state standards for unrestricted release.
Low-level waste means radioactive material that the NRC classifies as low-level radioactive waste.
Low-level waste or "waste" means radioactive waste, other than:
Low-level waste means radioactive waste that 1) is neither high-level waste nor transuranic waste, nor spent nuclear fuel, nor by-product material as defined in section 11e (2) of the Atomic Energy Act of 1954 as amended; and 2) is classified by the federal government as low-level waste, consistent with existing law; but does not include waste generated as a result of atomic energy defense activities of the federal government, as defined in P.L. 96-573, or federal research and development activities;
