Linear definition

Linear pricing means that customers will receive parking time at the prevailing hourly rate equivalent to the value of every coin they insert in a machine (the minimum coin accepted being 5p). At present a “step” tariff system operates which only allows the purchase of time in specified “blocks”, e.g. 30 minutes or even 1 hour minimum. The linear tariff will allow any amount of time to be purchased after 20 minutes based on the units of 5p a customer wishes to insert, subject to the maximum stay time allowed at the location.
Linear means a transmission (regardless of platform) made at the time selected by the person making the transmission (and not at the time selected by the person(s) viewing the transmission or with option for such persons to select a time).
Linear means that it has a faithful finite dimensional representa- tion, i.e., is isomorphic to a closed subgroup of GLn(C). In other words, G is the connected component of the identity in G(R), where G is a semisimple algebraic group defined over R. Typical examples of such groups include SLn(R) and SLn(C) (in the latter case G = SLn SLn and the real structure defined by the involution permuting the two

Linear in “simple regression model” means not a linear relationship between the variables, but a model in which the parameters enter in a linear way. That is, the model is linear in the parameters, but it is not necessarily linear in the variables. However, taking into account the nature of our variables, it is appropriate to assume16 that there is a linear association between variables.
Linear transmission means a transmission of moving video images, with or without accompanying sound, for simultaneous reception by the public, in private or public places.
Linear means a continuous, gradually increasing rate of deterioration where quitting is impossible in any stage (e.g. the various patterns of causal drug use), and progression onto the next level is inevitable. The “end result” is either death or abstinence, i.e. a drug-free condition resulting from persistent treatment. The latter one is believed to happen only rarely; the most typical result is “the golden shot”, i.e. death. Some experts say that the drug “career” immediately starts with heroin, although they add that even though they have seen such cases several times before, it is still not the “classic” or “typical” history of drug use.
