Leq definition

Leq means the equivalent continuous Sound Level over periods of time as specified in this Bylaw at a specified location as measured by a Sound Level Meter.
Leq means the equivalent sound level, that is the constant sound level in a given time that conveys the same sound energy as the actual time-varying, A-weighted sound.
Leq means the equivalent steady-state sound level, which in a stated period of time contains the same acoustic energy as the time-varying sound level during the same period. For purposes of measuring or predicting noise levels, a receptor is assumed to be at ear height, located five feet above ground surface.

Examples of Leq in a sentence

  • For the purposes of this section, the noise level is the A-weighted 24-hour equivalent (Leq) sound level and is defined simply as noise level in decibels.

  • During the monitoring period, the Leq, L10 and L90 were recorded.

  • Noise measurements were taken in terms of the A-weighted equivalent sound pressure level (Leq) measured in decibels (dB).

  • For the purposes of this section the noise level is the A-weighted 24-hour equivalent (Leq) sound level and will be defined simply as noise level in decibels.

  • The readings were tabulated and a frequency distribution table prepared from which 24 hourly, hourly, and Average Leq noise levels were calculated.

More Definitions of Leq

Leq means the equivalent sound level of a steady state sound which has the same sound energy as that contained in the actual time-varying sound being measured over a specific time period;
Leq means the equivalent (average) sound level reported in units of dBA.
Leq means the equivalent sound level, which is the constant sound level in a given time period that conveys the same sound energy as the actual time-varying A-weighted sound. The applicable time period for the Leq must be specified.
Leq means the energy equivalent sound level or the continuous sound level that would result in the same total sound energy being produced over a given period.
Leq means the average measure of continuous noise that has the equivalent acoustic energy of the fluctuating signal over the same time period. For the purposes of
Leq means the A-weighted Sound level of a steady Sound carrying the same total energy in the time period T as the observed fluctuating Sound. The time period T is given in hours;
Leq means the equivalent continuous Sound Level over periods of time as specified in this Bylaw
