Independence definition

Independence means the extent to which individuals with developmental disabilities exert control and choice over their own lives.
Independence means supporting resident capabilities and facilitating the use of those abilities. Creating barrier free structures and careful use of assistive devices supports independence.
Independence means a judge’s freedom from influence or controls other than those established by law. See Canons 1 and 4, and Rules 1.2, 3.1, 3.12, 3.13, and 4.2.

Examples of Independence in a sentence

  • However, if New Year’s Day, Christmas, Independence Day, Veterans’ Day or Nevada Day falls on a Saturday/Sunday, the preceding/following weekday will be considered a paid holiday for those who work an assigned work schedule of Monday through Friday.
