Hazard index definition

Hazard index means the sum of two or more hazard quotients for multiple hazardous substances and/or multiple exposure pathways.
Hazard index means the sum of the Hazard Quotients.
Hazard index means the calculation of the potential for non-cancer health effects as a result of exposure to one or more substances with the same or similar modes of toxic action or toxic endpoints.

Examples of Hazard index in a sentence

  • As shown in the table below, the highest concentrations were above the calculated Hazard Index of 1.

  • Human health risks are expressed as either (a) an incremental lifetime excess cancer risk or (b) a Hazard Index (“HI”) for non-cancer adverse health affects.

  • You can then adjust these input numbers until a total carcinogenic risk (sum of risks of all the contaminants) of 1X10-04 and a non-cancer Hazard Index (sum of all the individual contaminant Hazard Quotient) of 1 is achieved.

More Definitions of Hazard index

Hazard index means the sum of individual acute or chronic hazard quotients for each substance affecting a particular toxicological endpoint, as determined in accordance with the requirements of "The Air Toxics Hot Spots Program Guidance Manual for Preparation of Health Risk Assessments," Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment, August 2003, which is incorporated herein by reference.
Hazard index means the sum of more than one hazard quotient for multiple substances, multiple exposure pathways, or both. The Hazard Index is calculated separately for chronic, subchronic, and shorter duration exposures.
Hazard index means the sum of hazard quotients for any substance over all exposure pathways;
Hazard index or “HI” means the sum of more than one hazard quotient for multiple substances and/or multiple exposure pathways. The HI is calculated separately for chronic, subchronic, and shorter-duration exposures.
Hazard index means the sum of the hazard quotients for multiple substances and/or multiple exposure pathways.
Hazard index means a facility’s numerical ratio value for assessing non- cancer health effects, as reviewed by the Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) and approved by the district, in accordance with Health and Safety Code section 44360 and in a manner consistent with the OEHHA “Air ToxicsHot Spots’ Risk Assessment Guidelines, October 19932003”, which is incorporated by reference herein.
Hazard index means the sum of two or more hazard quotients for chemicals of concern or multiple exposure pathways to a particular receptor.
