Fracturing definition

Fracturing or “hydraulic fracturing” means a procedure to stimulate production by forcing a mixture of fluid and proppant (usually sand) into the formation under high pressure. This creates artificial fractures in the reservoir rock, which increases permeability and porosity.
Fracturing means mechanically inducing a crack or surface of breakage within rock not related to foliation or cleavage in metamorphic rock in order to enhance the permeability of rocks by connecting pores together.
Fracturing means the process of forcing a fluid in the subsurface strata with the purpose of enhancing flow passages ;

More Definitions of Fracturing

Fracturing or "hydraulic fracturing" means the propagation of fractures in a rock layer, by a pressurized fluid used to release petroleum or natural gas (including shale gas, tight gas, and coal seam gas), for extraction.
Fracturing means the injecting of a fluid into a well to cause pressure that “cracks” or opens up fractures already present in the formation.
Fracturing or “Fracking” shall mean the fracturing of rock formations by man-made fluid- driven techniques for the purpose of stimulating natural gas or other subsurface hydrocarbon production. The term includes high-volume fracking into hard rock deposits.

Fracturing or “cracking” means drawing council district lines so that a minority population is broken up and spread among as many council districts as possible, keeping them a minority in every council district, rather than permitting them to concentrate their strength enough to elect representatives in some council districts.
Fracturing or “to fracture” shall mean the process of pumping fluids, gas or other substances with or without a proppant down a well under pressure expressly designed to initiate and propagate fractures or fracture networks in the target producing formation to facilitate oil or gas extraction.
