Congregate Care definition

Congregate Care means a specialized program to serve participants with developmental disabilities whose health and medical conditions are stable and do not require continued nursing and medical care, and are served within a community group-living arrangement.

Congregate Care means a Multiple Unit building that is used or intended to be used as a seniors residence principally for sleeping accommodation, and does not include cooking appliances within each unit, and where common dining areas are provided within the building;

Congregate Care. A placement for children/youth that includes 2 twenty-four (24)-hour supervision in a highly-structured setting or 3 institution.

More Definitions of Congregate Care

Congregate Care means a development designed to provide residence for individuals, most often elderly, who may not wish to provide living arrangements for themselves, but are otherwise in good health and maintain a semi-independent lifestyle not requiring on-site medical services or facilities. Congregate care facilities shall provide community on-site food preparation and dining services, and shall provide social and recreation services, but shall not have on-site medical service or individual cooking facilities within the units.

As a minimum requirement, a congregate care facility must maintain congregate cooking and dining programs, and may also offer a variety of congregate recreation, social, transportation, health maintenance and counseling programs. If the facility offers only independent cooking facilities in the private residentialunits or offers extensive skilled nursing services, the facility is then defined respectivelyas an apartment complex or a convalescent hospital.
