According to Indiana code IC 31-33-5 Duty to report, IC 31-9-2-14 Child abuse or neglect, IC 31-34-1 Circumstances under which a child is a Child in Need of Services, any reporting of known or suspected child abuse or neglect should be directed to the local Child Services office.
All Child Care personnel are required to be mandated reporters; meaning all Child Care personnel are required to report any suspected incident of Child abuse or neglect and must repeat this Department approved Mandated Reporter Training every four (4) years.
These situations include, but are not limited to: • A serious crime (examples: drug activity, black marketing, etc.) • Spouse or Child abuse or neglect • Drug abuse • Potential danger to self (example: suicide) or others (example: homicide) • Expectation of media coverage regarding a family issue • Issues deemed to be mission security risks Disclosing Information SFRG volunteers are prohibited from divulging phone numbers and addresses of families to include other unit families.
