More Definitions of BIPOC

BIPOC means a Black, Indigenous, or other Person of Color identity that reflects the identity of the community to be served. If there is no clear community racial or ethnic identity, “BIPOC” means any Black, Indigenous, or Person of Color.
BIPOC means Black, Indigenous, and Other People of Color. HCD’s MHP also sets expe- rience guidelines for entities applying as Emerging BIPOC Developers. To be considered a qualifying BIPOC nonprofit organization, the entity must have a BIPOC Executive Director/ Chief Executive Officer and 51% of the organization’s board must be BIPOC. For purposes of this paragraph, People of Color means “a person who checked the Black or African American, American Indian and Alaska Native, Asian, or Native Hawaiian and Other Pacific Islander race category or who answered yes to the Hispanic Origin question on the 2020 United States Census or, if that data is not yet publicly available, the 2010 United States Census.” More detailed information is available in the 2021 Multifamily Housing Program Final Guidelines.
BIPOC means an entity or developer that is at least 51% owned by one or more Black, Indigenous, or Other People of Color or by a non-profit organization with a Black, Indigenous, or Other Person of Color executive director/Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and board membership that is comprised of at least 51% Black, Indigenous, and Other People of Color. For purposes of this subsection, Black, Indigenous, or Other People of Color means "a person who checked the Black or African American, American Indian and Alaska Native, Asian, or Native Hawaiian and Other Pacific Islanders race category or who answered yes to the Hispanic Origin question on the 2020 United States Census or the most current publication of the United States Census.
