Base flood elevation definition

Base flood elevation. (BFE) means the elevation shown on the Flood Insurance Rate Map for Zones AE, AH, A1-30, VE and V1-V30 that indicates the water surface elevation resulting from a flood that has a 1-percent or greater chance of being equaled or exceeded in any given year.
Base flood elevation means the depth or peak eleva- tion of flooding, including wave height, which has a one percent or greater chance of occurring in any given year.
Base flood elevation means the water surface elevation of the base flood. It shall be referenced to the North American Vertical Datum of 1988 (NAVD).
