Average Wholesale Price definition

Average Wholesale Price or “AWP” means the wholesale price charged on a specific commodity that is assigned by the drug manufacturer and is listed in a nationally-recognized drug pricing file.
Average Wholesale Price or (AWP) means the average wholesale price of a prescription drug, as determined by the current edition of the First Databank or MediSpan including supplements and ad hoc updates, on the day the drug is dispensed or filled to the Participant. The price shall be based on the actual 11-digit National Drug Code Number of the drug dispensed.
