The 2nd Class Lead Hand/Assistant Chief and the 2nd Class Shift Engineer would work in cooperation to ensure the safe operation of the power plant and that of the campus auxiliary equipment. It is further agreed that both the Chief Operating Engineer and the 2nd Class Lead Hand/Assistant Chief would alternate vacations. The scheduling of vacations for 2nd Class Shift Engineer would continue as per the Collective Agreement. Employees assigned to the position of 2nd Class Lead Hand/Assistant Chief and 2nd Class Shift Engineer shall receive a wage premium of $1.00 per hour rolled into his/her regular wage rate. In addition while the Chief is away for more than 72 hours the 2nd Class Shift Engineer on shift and the 2nd Class Lead Hand/Assistant Chief shall receive an additional $2.00 per hour.
