Alternative System definition

Alternative System means any approved ground absorption sewage treatment and disposal system other than an approved privy or an approved septic tank system.
Alternative System means an on-site wastewater treatment system requiring supplemental treatment or a system designed to address unfavorable site conditions such as high groundwater, impervious soil formations, unacceptable percolation rates, and disposal field size limitations. For the purposes of this chapter, an alternative system does not include a standard gravity flow or pressure dosed system, or an experimental system.
Alternative System means an OSS other than a conventional gravity OSS or conventional pressure distribution.

More Definitions of Alternative System

Alternative System means an on-site sewage system other than a conventional gravity system or conventional pressure distribution system. Properly operated and maintained alternative systems provide equivalent or enhanced treatment performance as compared to conventional gravity systems.
Alternative System means any onsite wastewater treatment system DEQ or the commission approvesd by the commission or DEQ for use in lieu of the standard subsurface system.
Alternative System means a LUWD system that is not a conventional system.
Alternative System means an individual sewage disposal system which uses nonconventional technology for enhanced effluent treatment and/or disposal.
Alternative System means a septic system with components that are intended to deal with special site conditions (e.g., nitrogen-reduction systems, shallow trench soil absorption systems, sand filters).
Alternative System means an on-site sewage treatment system that varies from the requirements of on-site sewage treatment systems described in this Chapter.
Alternative System means any on-site liquid waste system utilizing a method of liquid waste treatment and disposal used in lieu of a conventional system, including modifications that are recognized and allowed by Liquid Waste Disposal and Treatment, 20.7.3 NMAC (9/1/13 as amended through 9/15/14).
