Acting Mayor definition

Acting Mayor means the councillor elected by council to act as the mayor if a vacancy arises in that office.
Acting Mayor means the Council member who is responsible for acting in the place of the Mayor when the Mayor is absent or otherwise unable to act, or when the office of Mayor is vacant;
Acting Mayor means the Councillor who is appointed, in alphabetical order by last name, to serve one month each, to act in the place and stead of the Mayor as required.

More Definitions of Acting Mayor

Acting Mayor means the Deputy Mayor, when the Mayor is temporarily unable to Act, and if the Deputy Mayor is unable to Act temporarily, it shall mean the Councillor with the longest continuous service and if there is more than one, then the selection shall be made by motion. The Acting Mayor shall have all the rights, powers and authority of the Mayor, while acting in the Mayor’s stead. (Also Ref. SCHEDULE ‘E’, Appointment Process to Fill a Vacancy on Council).
