Abuse of authority occurs when an individual uses their authority or position with its implicit power to undermine, sabotage or otherwise interfere with or influence the career of another employee or in the provisions of goods and services to the public.
Abuse of authority means an individual's improper use of power and authority inherent in the position held, by means of intimidation, threats, blackmail or coercion.
Abuse of authority also includes unjustly or unfairly favouring one employee to the disadvantage of another.
Abuse of authority also constitutes harassment and occurs when an individual improperly uses the power and authority inherent in their position to endanger an Employee’s job, undermine the Employee’s ability to perform that job, threaten the economic livelihood of the Employee, or in any way interfere with or negatively influence the career of the Employee.
