Absence definition

Absence means that no family member is residing in the unit.
Absence or “absent” means the failure of a school-age child assigned to a class or class period to attend a class or class period. “Absence” or “absent” does not mean multiple tardies used to calculate an absence for the sake of a truancy.
Absence means an excused absence, unexcused absence or disciplinary absence, as those terms are defined by the State Board of Education or an in-school suspension that is greater than or equal to one-half of a school day.

  • This provision does not apply to Unrequested Leaves of Absence under Article XII below.

  • Absence of a teacher due to injury incurred in the course of the teacher’s employment shall not be charged against the teacher’s personal illness leave days.

Absence is the period an employee is absent from work either with or without pay (except a paid vacation period), computed by subtracting the date following the last day worked from the date the employee returns to work. Each separate continuous period away from work shall be treated as a single absence from work.
