ORCHESTRA. The orchestra can be split into two groups of at least twenty (20) musicians each for different performances and the rehearsals attributable thereto. When a performance of one or the other of the groups is recorded for broad- cast on radio or television, the terms of the agreement between the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation and the apply and, for that purpose, each group is deemed to be the entire Orchestre symphonique de Montréal. The gives the musicians at least one (1) month’s advance written notice before splitting the orchestra, telling them to which group they have been assigned. When the orchestra is split, the two groups’ rehearsals and performances can take place at times. If a split orchestra remains in effect during a winter or summer season, the assigns the same number of first chairs to each group and distributes the remaining musicians to one group or the other using a fair and equitable rotation system.

ORCHESTRA. Membership in the orchestra is open to all string players who can qualify and to other instrumentalists by invitation. The orchestra gives two concerts for the public, one in mid-winter and the other one in the spring. In addition, the orchestra plays for assemblies, plays, and commencement.

The majority of these performances are coordinated after regular school hours. Attendance at these after- school rehearsals and performances is mandatory and will affect your grade in this class. Students interested in Concert Choir are required to take the Vocal Music class. This class is open to all students. Concert Choir members are required to participate in both the Christmas and Spring Concerts. Attendance at after- school rehearsals for the concerts is mandatory. Concert Choir members may also serve as the choir, cantors, or leaders of song for liturgical celebrations and special school assemblies. Senior members of the Concert Choir are required to sing for Ring Mass and Baccalaureate. Flowerettes is the advanced choral ensemble, consisting of 20 members. Membership is open to students who are serious about choral singing and committed to singing more difficult music. A vocal audition is necessary in order to gain entry into the group. Flowerettes participate in the Christmas and Spring Concerts and may perform at various functions throughout the year. Attendance is mandatory at both concerts as well as all other performances. Senior members of the Flowerettes are required to sing for Ring Mass and Baccalaureate.

ORCHESTRA. The Centre shall engage no fewer than fifty (50) Musicians for the seasons covered by the term of this Agreement. Each season shall consist of forty-six (46) weeks. Each Musician shall receive the minimum fee set forth in Article for the season for performingthe types of services set forth in Article The Centre will appoint a Personnel Manager. The initial appointment of this person must be approved by the Local. Insofar as the Personnel Manager is performing his duties as Personnel Manager, he is a member of the ,management staff of the Centre and shall report to and take direction from the Managing Director, or his designate. The parties recognize and agree that the Managing Director has the authority and responsibility to require compliance by Musicians to the terms of this Agreement and that he may delegate such authority and responsibility to the Personnel Manager. The Centre will appoint two (2) members of the Local as Librarians, both of whom shall receive not less than the current basic fee for services not to exceed thirty-five (35) hours weekly. For time in excess of thirty-five (35) hours, they shall receive one and one half (1 times their hourly rates to be computed in half-hour segments. A Librarian must be present on ail services including tours and run-outs. Gender Whenever the masculine is used herein, it shall also be considered to refer to the feminine. Whenever there is no Music Director, the Music Director Designate shall have the right to exercise all of the rights, duties and responsibilitiesof the Music Director under this agreement, except that the Music Director Designate shall not have authority to exercise the right to terminate the services of a Musician under Article for reasons other than just cause.
