Initial Hire. All new hires shall be paid on step one of the appropriate range of this contract. A newly hired employee shall be entitled to advance to the next step on July 1st of the year following the date of hire.

Initial Hire. Individuals newly hired to the District as Associate Educators/School Success Program Assistants, shall have a seniority date which is the first date of actual employment in the position for which they were hired, and shall accrue district seniority during the time they work in said position.
Initial Hire. The University and Akron-AAUP recognize • that the preferred timeline to hire bargaining unit positions is to approve positions in the spring or summer, to begin searches by the early fall and to make offers by early spring, following the standard practices of academia; • that all aspects of the search process should be conducted quickly and efficiently; • that budgeting uncertainties and other issues, such as sudden retirements and resignations, may make it difficult or impossible to follow the preferred timeline for all searches, but that the timeline should be followed as often and as closely as possible; deviances from the preferred timeline are not grievable.
Initial Hire. Upon initial employment, to each employee who wants and will wear a ballistic protective vest (“Vest”), the County will provide reimbursement for said Vest, up to the IIIA threat level, up to $500. Employees must obtain their Vest from a reputable vendor selected by the employee. If an employee chooses a Vest with a cost in excess of the County’s contribution of $500, the additional cost will be paid by the employee.
