To the extent any CRA requires a Consumer to authenticate his or her identity (not whether he or she is a Person with a Visual Impairment) as part of the process for making a Reasonable Consumer Request for Disclosures in Braille, Large Print, or Audio Format, the Request will be considered “received” after the Consumer provides information that allows the CRA to authenticate the Consumer’s identity. Any request for authentication shall be made in the same format in which the Reasonable Consumer Request has been made, or in another format that provides effective communication to the requesting Consumer and will not unreasonably delay processing the Reasonable Consumer Request. The CRAs will use the same standards for determining when to request authentication and the types of authentication to request of Consumers who are Persons with a Visual Impairment that are used for Consumers who are not Persons with a Visual Impairment. No additional authentication will be required as a result of a Consumer’s Visual Impairment.
