All current Support Workers as well as any current employees whom worked as a Support Worker for a period of time following April 1, 2022 shall receive full retroactive pay to April 1, 2022, for all hours worked and/or paid. Retroactive pay shall be paid to within thirty (30) calendar days following the date of signing this Letter of Understanding (XXX). Any employee currently working in another classification and still holding a Support Worker wage rate shall not be eligible for the increase as set out above and will remain in the original April 1, 2022 scale until such time as they return to the Support Worker classification. At which point they will be placed on the scale according to where their seniority puts them. While in effect this XXX shall form part of the CBA and the wage scale above will replace the current Support Worker wage scale.

For an employee to move to the DSP level 2 wage scale, they shall complete the Employer’s 40-hour online training program. Online training shall be paid and done during working hours subject to operational needs. In the event an employee has difficulty finding time during their regular scheduled work day, the Employer shall make every effort to schedule the employee time to complete the training within a reasonable period of time. Should an employee wish to do the training on their own time, they will have the ability to do so but the time shall be unpaid. Once the program has been completed the employee shall immediately move to the DSP 2 wage scale based on their current hours of work. The following language shall be deleted from Appendix B-1: Once the Provincial minimum wage (PMW) increase for October 1, 2023 is determined the parties agree to amend the scale by increasing each wage rate by the difference between $14.35 and the new PMW effective October 1, 2023. Example, if PMW goes to $15 that is a difference of $.65 therefor $.65 will be added to each scale changing $14.35 to $15.00 and $15.41 to $16.06. Consistent with the language contained in Appendix B-1, the Employer has indicated that the increases above are consistent with the additional funding they have received to date. All employees shall receive full retroactive pay to April 1, 2023, for all hours worked and/or paid. Retroactive pay shall be paid to all employees within thirty (30) calendar days following the date in which the money is received from the Provincial Government. Retroactive pay shall be issued to each employee in the bargaining unit on paycheques that are separate and apart from their normal earnings.
