Friedman Clause Samples
The Friedman clause is a provision commonly found in collective bargaining agreements that ensures employees covered by the agreement will automatically receive any more favorable terms or benefits that the employer grants to other employees not covered by the agreement. In practice, this means that if the employer negotiates better wages, hours, or working conditions with another group of employees, those improvements are extended to the employees protected by the original agreement. The core function of the Friedman clause is to prevent disparities and ensure fairness among different groups of employees, thereby protecting unionized workers from being disadvantaged compared to their non-union counterparts.
